OXO Brew Conical Burr Coffee Grinder

Maker’s price: $109.99. OXO product page, checked October 2, 2026.

This is the lower-priced electric hopper grinder in the set, if you use the maker’s own list price.

  • Price: $109.99. Source: OXO product page, checked October 2, 2026. oxo.com/conical-burr-coffee-grinder.html
  • Burrs: stainless steel conical. Same page, same date. The page does not state a burr diameter, so that number is omitted.
  • Adjustment: 15 grind size settings, plus additional microsettings, described as running from fine for espresso to coarse for French press and cold brew. Same page, same date.
  • Hopper: up to 3/4 lb / 12 oz of beans. Same page, same date. A separate sentence on that page rendered as a conflicting weight figure, so only the features line and the specifications table (capacity 12 oz) are used here.
  • Weight: 5.6 lb. SKU 8717000. Same page, specifications table, same date.
  • Pour-over on the dial: the instruction booklet maps “Pour Over/Drip Coffee” to medium, settings 6–10. Fine / 1–5 is listed for espresso, and coarse / 11–15 for French press and cold brew. Source: OXO Brew booklet for this grinder, checked October 2, 2026. OXO Brew 8717000 booklet (PDF). The PDF does not show its own publication date.

The booklet says the first time you use it, start with about 10 seconds and adjust. That is OXO’s instruction, not a measured dose from this site. Dimensions on the product page did not come through as a clean width × height × depth, so they are omitted. Check the current listing.

Fits a beginner who wants to leave beans in a hopper, pick a numbered medium setting, and grind by time. Skip it if you want to weigh a single dose into an empty grinder every morning. This model is built as a hopper grinder.

Baratza Encore

Maker’s price: $149.95. Baratza Encore product page, checked October 2, 2026.

Baratza’s own page presents the Encore as a filter and pour-over grinder. The price below is from that live page. The mechanical specs are from Baratza’s specification sheet, which is labeled March 2020 (v4). The product page checked on October 2, 2026 did not reprint that spec table, so treat the sheet as the maker’s published spec, not as a 2026 retest.

  • Price: $149.95. Source: Baratza Encore product page, checked October 2, 2026. baratza.com Encore (ZCG485)
  • Burrs: 40 mm conical. Grind adjustment: 40 settings, stated range 250 to 1200 microns. Source: Baratza Encore specification sheet, March 2020 (v4), retrieved October 2, 2026. Baratza Encore specs (PDF)
  • Bean hopper: 225 g in the spec table. The same sheet’s introduction also says the hopper holds 8 ounces. Grounds bin: 142 g. Same PDF.
  • Power: 70 W (100–120 VAC listing). Burr rotation: 550 RPM, described on the sheet as slowed by gear and electronic speed reduction. Speed to grind: 0.8 g/sec to 1.1 g/sec. Weight: 3.1 kg (7 lb). Dimensions, width / height / depth: 12 / 35 / 16 cm. Same PDF.

The sheet says the Encore is for manual brewing and espresso, and that you turn the hopper to change the setting. That is the maker’s description. This site did not check how those 40 steps land on a pour-over dripper.

Fits a beginner who wants a stepped electric grinder with a published micron range and a hopper large enough for several cups (225 g on the spec sheet). It costs more than the OXO on the list prices checked the same day ($149.95 versus $109.99). Skip it if you specifically want a hand grinder or a single-dose load of about one brew at a time.

Timemore Chestnut C3

$109.00 and $79. Jet Black Standard $109.00; C3 series from $79. Timemore, checked October 2, 2026.

Shop Shop

A manual grinder. Useful when the counter is small or you do not want another plug-in appliance. Two Timemore pages disagreed on the starting price, so both are cited and neither is treated as the only price.

Fits a beginner who will grind one small load by hand. A 20 g catch cup, as listed, is one load; a bigger brew means grinding again. Skip it if you want a hopper you fill once for the week, or if you do not want to crank.

Fellow Opus 2

Maker’s price: $199.95 and $249.95. Regular price $199.95; $249.95 with a wood lid and metal dial. Fellow product page, checked October 2, 2026.

Check price on Amazon Or buy from Fellow

The expensive end of this short list. Fellow sells it as one electric grinder for espresso, pour-over, drip, French press, AeroPress, and cold brew. It is single-dose: you load what you are about to grind, rather than leaving a hopper full.

  • Price: $199.95 regular price shown for the Opus 2 (black was the color on the page when checked). Source: Fellow product page, checked October 2, 2026. fellowproducts.com Opus 2. The same page also showed a $249.95 version with a wood lid and metal dial on Fellow’s compare chart. Confirm which variant is in the cart.
  • Burrs: 48 mm conical, stainless steel, from the product details and the compare chart on Fellow’s site, same date.
  • Adjustment: the product highlights call it a stepless side dial. A question-and-answer block on the same page also says “48 adjustable settings.” Those two lines conflict, so this article does not pick a step count. Read the current listing.
  • Capacity: single-dose load bin 100 g; standard catch cup 100 g; espresso catch cup 30 g. Dimensions (L × W × H): 206 × 130 × 267 mm (8.1 in × 5.1 in × 10.5 in). Weight: 2.3 kg (5.1 lb). Power: 300 W. Same product page, same date.

The page said black was in stock and ready to ship, and that some other colorways were still on pre-order (wording on the page included Black + Walnut shipping early October, Woodland + Walnut late November, and Sesame + Maple early December). That was the page on October 2, 2026, not a stock check at a store.

Fits someone who wants one electric grinder to cover pour-over now and maybe espresso later, and who will weigh each dose. It is $50 above the Encore and about $90 above the OXO on the list prices checked the same day. Skip it if the budget stops at the OXO or the hand grinder.

What this list is sorting for

Beginner pour-over needs a burr grinder that can sit in a medium, filter range and repeat that setting. A blade chopper is outside this comparison. Espresso-only grinders are outside it too, even when a maker says a model can also grind fine enough for espresso.

The four models below are the ones whose current manufacturer pages were clear enough to cite on October 2, 2026:

List price is not a verdict on grind quality. Stock and street price change. Check the current listing before you buy.

How to choose without a test

None of that is a taste ranking. Uniformity, fines, noise, and how much coffee stays inside the grinder are things this page does not claim to have measured. Manufacturer lines about “uniform grounds,” “near-zero retention,” or a 550 RPM burr are their claims, cited above only where a page actually stated them.
